A Curriculum Vitae, or CV, is essentially an account of your life. It should include well-structured information such as your contact details, personal profile/key skills, educational qualifications, employment history, achievements, hobbies/interests, and references. When crafting your CV, it is important to ensure it is presented in a professional manner, making it easy for employers to read. It is advised to keep your CV concise, limiting it to no more than two to three pages, depending on your level of experience. Taking the time to construct an effective CV can help increase your chances of catching the attention of potential employers, and ultimately assist you in securing a job.

Generally, when applying for a job you will be asked to send your CV and a letter of application, (cover letter). The cover letter should be kept to one-page detailing where you saw the job advertised, your interest in the position, the key skills and achievements you can bring to the position and the reasons why you would like this particular role. Tailor the cover letter to the job description advertised. Remember to keep it simple and keep a copy for future reference. The key object of the letter is to convince the employer that you are worth interviewing!
Your CV is your “60 Second” commercial, telling an employer about your employment, educational background, key skills and achievements in synopsis form. It can make the difference in being asked by an employer for interview or not
